Lisa (Lee) Shauger is the working name of New York Times Best Selling author Lisa VanAllen (Random House, Penguin, & Hachette [formerly Time/Warner).

The Backstory
When I was in my twenties, I set a goal of hitting the Times list by the time I turned 35—on my own terms. And yeah, I did that. Then, my husband and I started a family. And little by little, with their tiny hands and their trusting eyes and their contagious giggles, my children changed me.

The drive to leave this world better than I found it has become acute. So I’m taking my most powerful tools—my curiosity, my storytelling experience, my creativity, and my keyboard—and I’m enlisting them in the fight for the future. Let’s do some good together.

Now?

Having stepped away from SEO and content marketing while I was raising my family, I began offering marketing support to small businesses in my area in preparation for rejoining the traditional workforce.

I'm not currently updating this site as I am now working in marketing in a corporate setting (the transition back to traditional work happened much more quickly than I'd thought!).

My Web Properties
www.SearchPurse.com. The B2B online home for my digital marketing activities. Designed and built from scratch in Wix all by me onsies. Not gonna lie—I’m having way too much fun here. Digital marketing lights me up.

www.FiddleSips.com. My previous project to support the #sobercurious movement. Check out my videos, recipes, photography, and more. Here’s one example:

Long-Form Articles
10 B2C Welcome Email Templates For Small Businesses And Purpose-Driven Brands (2023). This article was written to do a few things:
-
To snag some long-tail keyword value over time
-
To demonstrate my writing chops to potential clients and partners
-
To offer a high-value tutorial to DIYers (I have strategically not offered it as a subscriber list “carrot” or freebie because I want this information to be easily available to humans and web crawlers at this time).
85 Things That Happen If You Have One Drink Less Per Day (2023). This article supports my mission at FiddleSips to prompt questions about alcohol culture. I’m banking on long-tail keywords and high-value over time.

Many additional assets are available upon request, including my more recent work.
Feature Articles & Essays
My Father-in-Law Got A Rare Disease That’s On The Rise—And It Saved His Life (2023). Originally posted on Medium, this short article is a PSA (and an effort to draft on breaking news at the time about babesiosis). The article was reposted in multiple local news blogs in New Jersey (earned media).
Flower Power (2011). A two-thousand-word featured article about Lady’s Slipper Orchids in New Jersey. And if you think 2,000 words about a single flower is boring, I defy you to click over and read this one.😂🌺🌸

The Wishing Thread (2011, Random House/Ballantine). New York Times & USA Today Bestseller.
